What does CPV (Cost Per View) mean?

The cost of one view of your video ad, the buying model of YouTube and online video.

Full definition

CPV charges each qualified view of a video ad — the definition of a 'view' varying by platform (30 seconds or full duration on YouTube, 2 seconds elsewhere). Common CPVs range from €0.01 to €0.15 depending on targeting and format.

Why is it important?

CPV builds video awareness at controlled cost, but cross-platform comparison is treacherous: a 2-second TikTok 'view' and a 30-second YouTube view don't have the same memory value.

The Jour de Chance approach

"We normalize CPVs into cost per completed view and per second of attention to compare platforms honestly — and cross with Brand Lift to validate real memory impact."
