What does KPI (Key Performance Indicator) mean?

A measurable metric used to evaluate the success of a strategic objective.

Full definition

Not all numbers are KPIs. Impressions, likes, or raw traffic are often 'Vanity Metrics' if they don't move the goals that truly matter (Acquisition Cost, LTV, MER, Revenue generated).

Why is it important?

Choosing the right KPIs aligns the entire team (and the agency) with the company's true heading. If your agency optimizes for Clicks but your KPI is Margin per Lead, the ship will hit a wall.

The Jour de Chance approach

"From Onboarding, we 'declare the death' of Vanity metrics. We only define campaign success via 1 or 2 'North Star Metrics' (polarizing KPIs like overall MER), which we interconnect with our shared Looker Studio dashboard."
